     Chives are the smallest type of onion, and they are commonly used in cooking.

How to Plant Like full sun, well-drained sandy soil, pH 6-7; can be grown in pots or gardens; need at least 65 degree weather to grow from seed; plant 10-15 seeds per peat pot, then transfer to garden or bigger pots when strong enough; remove flower stems before flowering to continue plant production

* High in vitamins C, A, as well as sulfur & iron.

EDIBLE USES

* Leaves used as a condiment.
* Flowers & leaves can be added to salads (finely chopped as flavor of the flowers can be very strong).

MEDICINAL USES

* May help to lower blood pressure.
* Contains numerous organisulplide compounds such as allyl sulfides & alkyl sulfoxides, similar to garlic, healing for the circulatory system.
* Antiseptic.
* Stimulate appetite.
* Promote digestion.

GARDENING BENEFITS

* Repels insects in your garden.
* Attracts bees, which help pollinate plants/flowers.
* Companion plant to apples, and will prevent scab.
* Companion plant to roses, and will prevent black spot.

HARVESTING

* Cut flowers & leaves when ready; periodically cut back to the ground & they will regrow.
